To apply acquired knowledge and grass root experience in addressing development issues.
Whenever we hear about social initiatives of industries we tend to draw a cynical picture
about these programs being short term, media and communication oriented activities.
We see smiling faces and women working together in newspapers and brochures but tend to
infer that these are corporate communication scriptures without regular and remunerative
engagement for beneficiaries. With this image at backdrop, reputed grass-root NGO's are not
too willing in working/partnering with industries for their social initiatives.
Renaissance was formed by professionals who believed that root cause of aforementioned
scenario lies in the fact that industries have expertise in their core domain but they
lack systemic understanding of doing holistic and sustainable development work. Belief also
underscores that industries have done considerable investments for community and are pro
towards increasing the same but they lack knowledge of creating and building community
institutions which provides sustainability to these initiatives. These root causes lead to
'short term' and 'visibility' orientation of development programs initiated under the
banner of "CSR".
Renaissance for past 7 years has been working with different industries on consulting
and implementation of :
- R & R: Involuntary resettlement & rehabilitation of project affected people;
- CSR: Periphery Development & Corporate Social Responsibilities
